Today’s a special day – the arrival of his very first speedcube!
For those who haven’t been following along, Filip recently discovered the world of Rubik’s Cubes. He started with a classic 3×3, and within a few days, he could solve it like a champ (much to my amazement!). Seeing his enthusiasm, I decided to surprise him with a speedcube – a whole new level of cubing challenge!
The Big Reveal
The package arrived this morning, and Filip practically ripped it open with excitement. Inside, nestled in its protective packaging, was a sleek black speedcube. Filip’s eyes widened – it looked so different from his regular cube! He eagerly picked it up, running his fingers over the smooth surfaces and the vibrant colored tiles.
First Impressions
The first thing Filip noticed was how much lighter the speedcube felt compared to his classic one. He also marveled at how smoothly the pieces turned. He gave it a few tentative spins, a grin spreading across his face. „Wow, this is so much faster!” he exclaimed.
Learning the Ropes (or Corners, Rather)
Of course, with a new cube comes a new learning curve. Speedcubes have different turning mechanisms that allow for faster solving techniques. I found a great beginner’s guide online that showed some basic finger tricks. Filip, ever the dedicated learner, watched it intently, eager to absorb the new information.
It was a bit of a struggle at first, with Filip getting tangled up in his fingers and frustrated when the cube wouldn’t cooperate. But slowly, with each attempt, things started to click. He mastered a new finger trick, then another, his frustration replaced by a determined focus.
Victory Lap
By the end of the afternoon, Filip had managed to solve the speedcube a few times, albeit not quite as fast as the pros (yet!). Each successful solve was met with a triumphant fist pump and a huge smile. He couldn’t wait to show it off to his friends at school tomorrow.
Final Thoughts
This unboxing experience was a blast! Seeing Filip’s excitement and determination to learn something new was truly heartwarming. This speedcube is more than just a toy; it’s a challenge, a puzzle waiting to be solved, and a gateway to a whole new world of cubing possibilities.
I can’t wait to see Filip perfect his speedcubing skills and maybe even teach me a thing or two along the way! Stay tuned for future updates on Filip’s cubing journey. Who knows, maybe he’ll become a speedcubing champion someday!
