Last Sunday was one of those rare days when everything just clicked. The sun was shining, the weather was warm but not too hot, and we all felt the need to get out of the house. I decided to take my electric scooter and head out with my kids for a little outdoor adventure – a combination of bikes and a scooter, just for the fun of it.

We didn’t plan anything complicated. Sometimes the best outings are the spontaneous ones. We set off from home and made our way toward Wróbla Staw, a quiet and charming pond tucked away in a peaceful part of the city. When we arrived, we paused for a few minutes to take in the view – the water was perfectly still, reflecting the trees around it like a mirror. It felt like time had slowed down.

After that short moment of calm, we treated ourselves to something sweet – cactus-flavored ice cream from a nearby Żabka store. It might sound unusual, but it was actually really refreshing, and the kids loved it.

We then continued our journey to another nearby pond. This part of the ride was even more magical. We rode through tree-lined paths where we could hear nothing but the gentle rustling of leaves, the occasional bird call, and the soft hum of tires on gravel. As we approached the water, we saw birds flying low over the pond – ducks, swans, maybe even a heron in the distance. Nature was putting on a quiet, beautiful show just for us.

We circled the pond twice, taking it slow, chatting, laughing, and just enjoying each other’s company without distractions. In the end, we traveled about 7 kilometers, but it felt effortless. It wasn’t about the distance – it was about being present.

What made this trip so special wasn’t anything fancy. It wasn’t a vacation or a big event. It was just a couple of hours spent together, breathing fresh air, moving our bodies, and noticing the small things around us.

We came back home with red cheeks, clear minds, and happy hearts.

Sometimes, it really is true – the simple things are the best.
