Last week we had also a chance to visit „Human Body Exhibition” in Gdansk. This magnificent exhibition presents human body changes through all lifetime, from born to death.
It was very interesting to see every stadium of human fetus, including development of cartilage into bones. Also detailed insight into circulatory system and nervous system (with incredible speed of electric impulses and long dendrities), flattered our imagination. If only we could build and use computers, which would use the same speed and algorithms for AI, then we should be scaried;)
It was always curious for me why artists created their images in so impressive way. This exhibit explains it in very pecurial way on example of Monet – he had eye disease – Macular degeneration (AMD) , what caused that he saw „pointed” and unclear word. That’s why his late works have such impressionistic look. The other example of Degas and his fuzzy works, can also be easily explained by his eye disease – cataract.
Further we could admire detailed factors, which can make you live over 100 years. In particualr very restrict diet, sense of life and being needed, good society, regular excercises – make the best work. However can you admit to keep all these good practises?
Next part was dedicated to addictions – smokig, drugs and how they affect particualr organs. It was quite interesting that lungs of smoker consist mainly of carbon!
And here’s short overview of this exhibition from point of view of journalists from trojmiasto.pl :
